In foreign publishing industry, some large publishing groups have established their own knowledge system with global influence, such as Elsevier and Thomson-Reuters. They have transformed from publishing groups to information service providers. China’s publishing knowledge service is in the preliminary stage of the second-generation knowledge base system. Some publishing enterprises have established knowledge systems. For example, China Ocean Press has completed Four-level knowledge system of marine science, with 200 branches and more than 10,000 entries. Geological publishing house has completed knowledge system with 23 disciplines and 230,000 entries at 8 levels. However, there are several problems existed in the construction of knowledge system, especially the disunity of standards. These problems urgently need to be solved and promoted by introduction and propagation of national standards for the construction and application of knowledge service system for press and publication.。
